About me
My name is Alicia Ramirez, a proud Mexican residing in Winnipeg, Canada. I’ve been a web developer since 1995, and I have a Masters in Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. I’ve participated in the development of websites for private and public organizations, ranging from Unicef Mexico, to Nextel. I currently work full time as a web development Instructor at a Canadian college, and I do freelance work as well. You can see samples of my work in the Portfolio section.
What I do
I specialize in creating web site for small businesses. I use technologies and techniques that help them maximize their budgets:
- Information architecture principles that help plan the site and make sure the message reaches its audience.
- Graphic design that fits their business.
- Standard compliant XHTML and CSS to optimize your site and allow it to be viewed in a greater number or browsers and platforms.
- Open Source solutions to implement e-commerce and content management to make the site dynamic and easy to maintain.
- Consultancy to help them choose the best-suited host and domain name.
- Web site promotion and search engine optimization to get the word out.
About the site
This site is validated XHTML Transitional and CSS. It uses Textpattern for content management. It was tested successfully in IE 5.5, 6 for PC, IE 5.2 for Mac, Firefox 1.0.7 for Mac and PC, Safari 1.3.1, and Opera 8.5.
I took the pictures for this site. The three statues on the home page are pre-Columbian Mexican artifacts shown on the exhibit "Pre-Hispanic Jaguar, Tracks of the Divine". My logo is a carved stone piece part of the permanent collection at the Queretaro Regional Museum.
